NC/NY Fashion Row
Fashion Euphoria descended on the
Raleigh-Durham, NC area, on June 22nd, 2013, and landed at
Perimeter Park Studio and Conference center. Trend*Setting Fashion Shows, together with The Session Magazine,
partnered to sponsor one of the biggest fashion affairs in the area.
The 3rd Annual Trend*Setting Fashion Showcase:”NY/NC
Fashion Row-The Road to New York Fashion Week 2013”. This annual
event was created in 2010 to showcase fashion designers of all
different calibers. The designers also compete for big winnings! The
grand prize: A GUARANTEED place in the Fashion Gallery during New
York Fashion Week this September. As in past years, this show
promised to be amazing. It was even more than Latrisha Valdez
Rushing, the show's founder and producer, had even fathomed. It
was sold out with standing room only. Hosted by Miss North
Carolina United States 2013, Victoria Vesce, the show
featured designers from as far as Atlanta, Charlotte, and some
wonderful talent from right here in Raleigh.
A plethora of patterns, hues, and
textures graced the runway. For the first time in the show's history,
a men's wear and a plus size collection was featured. The array of
couture and ready-to-wear styles displayed in the show, posed as a
hard situation for the judges. Alva Page, International Runway
coach extraordinaire, and Lee Blackwell, last year's winning
designer, deliberated based on the quality, cohesiveness, and
marketability to determine the winner of the show. Based on this
criterion, the winner was Cori Spade, a recent graduate of
Meredith College's Fashion Design program. Cori's line focused on
cut, color, and contrast. Her most noted pieces: a white dress with
contrasting blue lapels and a trench coat with a plunging, skirted
back. All of her pieces included texture, structure, and a uniqueness
that was all her own. Congratulations to Cori and the models who made
her garments flourish on the runway. They will also be traveling,
alongside Cori to New York Fashion week. The runner-up was Maria Allen, a New Orleans native, who will be spotlighted in an
upcoming issue of The Session.
Latrisha Valdez Rushing's
Trend*Setting Fashion Show is
successfully giving a voice to fashion designers and other
professionals in the NC area where the focus on Fashion is growing
rapidly. The height of her excellence comes from direct industry
knowledge as a 17-year runway and fashion veteran. Her show continues
to expand and leave an impressionable mark in the area.
Congratulations to Latrisha and her team for a wonderful show. If you
missed it, be sure to be in the house for the next show!
